Hi Hal, Should be able to take the tax writeoff whenever one wishes, unless notified worthless as of a specific date. I tried to get some info as to the issuance of the "Rights" or CPRs. Tried ampex.com but they released that url, and it's now AMerican Precious metals EXchange. Called Karen's number and left a message on her answering machine, but no call back as per prior experience with calling her. Received a notice from the court a few weeks back saying see www.ampex.com for information. LOL

My experience with a similar situation with Seagate in the past where monies were received after the shares were canceled had the amounts showing up on 1099-INTs so they didn't really affect the cost basis of the worthless canceled shares.
