Precisely why the topic of renewable/emerging energy can't be left to the ebb and flow of market forces...

Actually the ebb will force Chrysler to address its small car and hybrid short fall. So market forces are working better than Federal mandate. Federal mandate will demand electric cars, which will be a disaster. Too much pollution and too much expense replacing very expensive batteries. Other than hybrids, electric will not be viable till hydrogen can be produced cheaply, and that won't happen till we can produce economical fusion reactors.
