Some muslims are very nutty and not too peaceful. However,
I don't think Iran wanted to attack the United States, quite
the opposite - through rather clever nuke diversion, Iranian
president played both Bush and US - driven UN to prevent
a US attack. In general, blood revenge and stuff runs high
in traditions of these countries, so ... things could be
bad later. It would be much better for us not to go anywhere
near that region of the globe unless we are attacked. BWDIK?
You just can't convert them into Western ways, nor should that
be attempted. The only leader who found a successful way
to deal with a muslim region was Stalin, and the way was
genocide. Not an acceptable behavior for a civilized
nation, really, but it can be used while at war if the nation
is threatened. If you get weak, they attack, terrorism.
All just IMHO.
Note that the 911 folks and Bin Laden are Saudi Citizens.
