Some direct observations as well. Ford doesn't even bother to grind all of the mold flashing off their blocks and cranks. I have had their engines apart and have never observed that with Chrysler. Chevy engines had some flashing, but not as bad as the Fords I have seen. Toyota and Honda are very good, but have other problems. Toyota seems to have a lot of problems with heads when they get past 100K miles or so.
