All three CEOs -- Rick Wagoner of GM, Alan Mulally of Ford, and Robert Nardelli of Chrysler -- exercised their perks Tuesday by flying in corporate jets to DC. Wagoner flew in GM's $36 million luxury aircraft to tell members of Congress that the company is burning through cash, asking for $10-12 billion for GM alone.

It's this type of stuff that makes me think that we may actually need a depression. It never dawns on anyone in this country that they may need to personally sacrifice to make things "work". The conservatives blame the unions, the liberals blame extravagant & dumb management. Nobody is talking mean and lean, except some small businesses.

I suspect that if things were left to their own, big business in this country would die, while small business would eventually thrive. But the process would be extremely painful short term to everyone... especially those nearing retirement (me!) where 'life' is short term.

Looks like the 'chickens are coming home to roost', to quote the right Reverend Wright.
