I just don't think the votes are there. I don't think they're wrong not to bail out the car makers.

I mean, really, they've had sixty years since the VW hit these shores, yet they still view small cars as loss leaders that don't have to show any quality.

I'm watching a feature on them right now, showing acres and acres of parked giant SUV's that no one will EVER want.

I have no confidence that they can learn to make a profit. Their overhead is just too high. Their death may lead to a depression, but like John said, maybe that's what we need.

The industrial cycle is, as new methods develop, the adopters profit and the dinosaurs die off. The car industry here needs to die before it can be reborn.
