If you want to know my advice for Citigroup, then don't trust what you read on message boards.

Now, can you tell me if the famous market timer we are supposed to talk about here took any profits in his newsletter portfolios in the last 5 years or did he do a round trip?

For the record, my explore portfolio is on house money with Citigroup which means I took so many profits when it was high that it can go to zero and I'm still in the green. With all my stocks, there is almost always one or more trades that don't look good and those who want to lie by omission or worse use that to their advantage.

Did I ride my long term holding, on house money, in Citigroup down? Yes... Just like anyone did who owned the S&P500 or Wilshire5000 index funds. The only difference between me and index fund investors with respect to Citigroup is I took profits to get my original investment and then some out much closer to the top than the bottom while they probably lost money unless they bought the index fund in the early 1990s.

As for Mr Buffett, he tells his investors that he can't time the market. He keeps the price high (no splits) to discourage the foolish who follow Brinker and have little cash or net worth to afford his stock from trying to market time with his stock.
