<<< most of us will not buy cars from a BK manufacturer >>>

I think it is safe to say...most of us will not buy overpriced poorly made cars....from a solvent manufacturer. Every year they have lost market share for good reason. When you have to resort to rebates and marketing product by "monthly payments", something is obviously wrong with the business model.

Maybe that's the real problem here.

If the big 3 had spent more time/energy designing a better vehicle and managing their business as well as the foreign competition...they wouldn't be in the predicament today.

To bailout a dysfunctional industry doesn't make any sense. You're simply postponing the inevitable. What is needed is a complete change of thinking that the current managements don't accept. Maybe that explains Mercedes dumping of Chrysler as they saw the writing on the wall.

Bailing out these companies won't make them globally competitive.

Just my thoughts.
