This video reminds me of my childhood when the Johnson Flying Service broke out the Ford Tri-Motor every spring and buzzed all the grade schools.

Smokejumpers really liked the Tri-Motor because it flew so slow it was easier to get out of. I've seen it turn around below my lookout in East Moose Creek, a drainage so narrow you wouldn't think they could turn a jeep around in it.



I noticed that the men were carrying Trapper Nelson pack frames, a precursor to the modern backpack frame packs. I still have mine hanging on the wall right here. Carried it many a mile on snowshoes on my trap line and in the summer on backpacks.
