Bulls--t. You're ignoring many, many other factors that led to the Big Three not being able to keep up in the auto industry.

Even if GM got to electric vehicles and hybrids before Honda and Toyota did, the implementations of them would have been so piss-poor and so costly that they wouldn't have made any profit.

The Toyota Prius succeeded not because it was the first hybrid (Honda Insight was on the road long before the Prius), but because it was the best implementation of a hybrid. The free market determined the winner in this case, and there's nothing California or the federal government could have done to force GM toward better competitiveness.

All you have to contribute is second-guessing nonsense.
