They are getting it wrong as usual. These recently release studies used miniscule amounts of vitamins C, like 90 mgs, sodium selenate (instead of selenomethionine which is the naturally occurring kind which acts with diverse selenoproteins to anti-oxidize along with the biggie seleno protein, glutathione peroxidase), and they used finally, dl-alpha-tocopherol, the synthetic Vitamin E made from petroleum. What was wrong with this approach?

1. dl-alpha-tocopherol is not well absorbed. It may be a toxin in that it prevents absorption of gamma tocopherol, the real workhorse anti oxidant. Either the natural or synthetic alpha tocopherol should be eschewed in favour of a balanced vitamin E. Now and AOR make such products.

2. Sodium selenate is also a toxin, but also not well absorbed. It just doesn't seem to do its job as well as selenomethionine, the kind found in wheat germ and selenocysteine that is found in wheat shellfish and tuna. (Lots of low cancer and low stroke people eat lots of these foods) Naturally occcuring selenium is a combination of 25 selenoproteins that seem to do some kind of combinatorial job on cancer and heart disease. People who live in high selenium soil areas get less cancer and heart disease. Canadian Durum wheat has 50 times the selenium that European wheat has, explaining why CDNs get fewer strokes than most people worldwide. "Now", *the company*, selenium is selenomethionine.

3. Vitamin C must be taken in greater amounts than 90 mgs to see therapeutic effects. it should be taken with bioflavonoids for good effect. It is 10 times more potent when taken with hesperitin, rutin, quercetin, proanthocyanidin and anthocyanin,

4. People need to take a fat meal to absorb vitamin E. If all they do is take a pill with water only vitamin E succinate will be absorbed. acetate and others must be taken with 2% milk or olive oil or it is a waste of time.

We know that vitamin C nourished cancer cells to a degree. What a shocker. Yes all cells draw on nutrients. Bad and good. Cancer cells produce glutamine and feed on glutamine. Yet they are inhibited by excess glutamine. Strange things happen. What C does and this has been found out only recently is that they prevent cancer cells growing in a low oxygen atmosphere. This increases the death rate of the cancer cells, which are using the vitamin C and now excess oxygen. Strange that an antioxidant can do that.. but that is what we told happens.

If the study had used a balanced vitamin E at 400 iu's, 1000 mgs vitamin C, and 200 mcgs selenomethionine and the people had been encouraged to eat CDN wheat germ oil and CDN wheat products and to eat tuna, and shellfish, and lots of green leafy veggies,, tons.. I wonder what the results of the study would have been? Do you think people who say they eat lots of greens actually eat two meals a day of greens? I don't believe they do at all. If people didn't bullshit the study the results would often be different.
