Boy, that brought back some memories. A long time ago our very obedience trained German Shepherd hit our mailman in our front yard. My daughter, who knew not to take the dog out of the back yard, did it anyway. My wife was in the shower and didn't realize it. The mailman came from between some large bushes between our house and the neighbor's. The dog went for him immediately, ripped his pants on one side nearly the length of the pants leg. Daughter screamed and my naked wife peeked from the window and called the dog off. The mailman dropped his bag and headed for his vehicle at the end of the street. The cop got to the house before I did and was ready to take the dog away about the time I arrived. We had words but the dog stayed with me. We had to pick up our mail at the PO for several days, I had to buy the mailman a new pair of pants and give him a day's pay because he was "too traumatized" to work the next day. The dog was just protecting my daughter, which was exactly why we kept him around, other than the fact that he was family, of course. gg
