While I agree with all your reasons regarding the vile auto industry, bankrupsty is not an option given the current economic climate, but probably in any climate.

The US needs a strong auto industry.

So how to reconcile your concerns, which most of us here share. The only path I see is for the government to take them over and restructure them after firing all of the CEO's, Directors and most division heads.

Obama could name a top person to lead the restructuring. That way we can restructure the auto industry in a way best for the country and without losing many jobs and attendent businesses.

I have done this sort of thing myself several times and seen it done several times.

I am not sure why so many object to this idea?
