Oh gee, seems MSFT has been strong arming other vendors!

Microsoft threatened computer
companies over browser contracts

Another manufacturer, Gateway, wanted to set up its Gateway 2000
computers so they immediately booted onto Netscape Communicator
when they were turned on, instead of Microsoft Windows, said
Gateway software director James Von Holle.

Microsoft said no.

"Microsoft requires that we boot to what they call a pristine Windows
environment, and that is an environment Microsoft defines," Von Holle
said. "Users may change that end configuration, but we're not able to
(change it) as manufacturers.

Micron asked Microsoft if it could remove the Explorer browser. A
Microsoft representative told Browning that removing the icon would
have violated the "'Windows experience initiative, which he explained
as intended to ensure the integrity and uniformity of Windows 95 as
received by computer user," Browning said.
