As I showed earlier, GM would have been profitable last quarter had it not been for the excessive union contracts that, for example, Toyota, doesn't have to deal with.

One can argue there are other excesses like corporate jets, but the unions are what is killing the Big 3. Without these absurd union extortion contracts Gm and the other two would be either making money or not losing a significant amount today, even with a lousy economy.

The unions are killing their own industries, and I think these unskilled laborers who expect to be paid as though they were highly skilled employees -- if they don't have the good sense to make concessions, then they'll deserve what they get-- which is to be out of work. They ought not be so dogged in their position. I sure as hell don't think the taxpayers ought to start paying these creeps.
