No, they don't. Retail sales were down in October from September and year over year. There are many other signs of stress, for example contract work sucks in general. A friend of mine does training for medical laser safety. Her business has gone to zero, something that hasn't happened for years. Yeah the anecdotal stuff is worse than the national numbers (but I may be prejudiced because FL is doing worse than average). My auto dealer general manager golf buddy is getting killed, off 60% YOY, and done with his second round of layoffs. He said their Chrysler shop sold a total of six cars last month. No way to cover the fixed cost. Consumers have gone into a shell... rightly so.
