SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 22, 1997--
New Release Quickly Incorporates Hard Copy Data Into Electronic Data Flow With New Features Based on a Standard Yet Flexible Architecture
Citing a 20 percent performance boost, Cornerstone Imaging, Inc. (NASDAQ:CRNR) announced today the immediate availability of InputAccel Release 1.2, the newest version of its market-leading document-capture product suite that allows organizations to efficiently capture, convert and store hard copy data electronically. InputAccel Release 1.2 enables companies to standardize on a single document capture architecture, yet retain the ability to customize the capture process for specific applications. "It's unbelievable how much faster InputAccel 1.2 is," said Zach Seils, a document processing center supervisor at Texas-based InfoEdge, which provides services to law firms, corporate legal departments and government agencies such as the Department of Defense. "We're running more than 50 thousand pages a day through the system, across all departments and multiple company sites. In addition to the performance boost, InputAccel allows me to manage multiple systems from my office in Austin."
The Standard for Flexibility
InputAccel software is a document capture system that consists of the InputAccel server and functional plug-in modules that manage specific document capture tasks such as image capture and data capture, and export the data to a specific application. Because InputAccel is based on an open integration platform, users can standardize globally and customize locally to meet their unique document capture needs throughout their enterprise. It gives them the ability to mix and match technology from different vendors in order to customize applications unique to each user's business, be it insurance, pharmaceuticals, banking, retail, government, telecommunications or publishing. "InputAccel is an effective set of document capture software tools for automating a company's document management process," said Karen Shegda, associate managing editor, Datapro Information Services Group. "InputAccel gives organizations an enterprise-wide standard for capturing disparate hard copy data types, such as paper, fax, and microfilm, as well as the ability to tailor the solution to meet the needs of individual departments within the organization."
Integrating Hard Copy Data with Enterprise Computing Systems
"Our customers know it's no longer acceptable to have critical information exist only in hard copy, and not as part of their electronic data flow," said Kimra Hawley, senior vice president, general manager, Software Division, Cornerstone. "Because of its superior performance, flexibility, and scaleability, InputAccel has been adopted by many users as the enterprise-wide standard for handling all their document capture needs -- whether they need to get paper-based information into a document management system, want to publish to a Web site, or automate a data entry process. "Now, with the product's significant speed enhancements and new features, it's even easier to integrate hard copy information with their electronic information systems."
InputAccel 1.2 key feature highlights and performance enhancements include:
-- The InputAccel Server and other improvements yield an overall performance improvement of up to 20 percent.
-- InputAccel/Adobe Acrobat Capture module quickly and easily converts paper into Adobe's Portable Document Format (PDF) during the document capture process. InputAccel's document workflow architecture automatically manages multiple copies of this module to meet high-volume conversion needs.
-- InputAccel/Documentum Compatible Exporter quickly and easily transfers captured data to the Documentum Enterprise Document Management System (ESDMS), taking full advantage of the power of Documentum by giving you the flexibility to manage renditions and versions of new and existing documents.
-- InputAccel/Automatic QA (AQA) finds common quality errors associated with image capture, such as images that are skewed, have bent corners or are too dark or light.
-- Input/Accel Index indexes images on any document level within a batch and enables operators to perform numerous additional functions at the same workstation.
-- InputAccel/Scan includes support for a number of new scanners, including Eastman Kodak's DS 5500 and 9500. InputAccel now delivers access to more than 150 scanning devices.
-- The InputAccel Server now includes new process routing and reporting features: the ability to route documents or other levels within a batch to specific individuals within an organization; performance monitoring statistics and reporting capabilities, and 15 new capture workflow scripts, bringing the total to 42.
