Actually, for new employees we don't give em vacation until they have had service for a year. We accrue the cost on the books but don't have to be out of pocket for a year at a minimum. Many don't take the vacation immediately upon the date it is earned, so I can invest any accrued and retained reserves at 4.5% (until recently) at a favorable repo rate, reducing the eventual cost further.

What do you do, pay them vacation up front? <g>
