This is an opportunity.

There have been many emails sent regarding sending cards and gifts to wounded servicemen and women at Walter Reed Hospital. Nearly all are INCORRECT as they direct you to send your card to an unnamed patient at Walter Reed. No soldier will ever see those cards. They are not distributed. Our military will not distribute to anything less than pinpoint mail addresses.

The following link provides precise information on where to send cards (cards only) and an alternate address for packages.

For gifts, this year the Red Cross is recommending gift cards.
The PX system is offering distribution.
All of this, including "How To" is also explained at this link:

redcross.org

This morning I received this message from a retired SFer whose son was seriously wounded last month.

"AS YOU KNOW I JUST SPEND 3WKS AT WALTER REED, AND DID SOME CHATTING WITH LOTS OF THE WOUNDED GUYS THERE AND THEY ALL SPEAK HIGHLY OF RED CROSS THERE AT WALTER REED.
SO I SPOKE DIRECTLY WITH RED CROSS FOLKS AND WHAT THEY NEED MORE THAN ANYTHING IS " CREDIT CARD GIFTS" SO GUYS AND FAMILY CAN GO OUT AND BUY ANYTHING RED CROSS CANT SUPPLY THEM"

If you wish to participate do it now. The cut-off date is December 10.
