"Southern Cross" is an incredible book. It tells of the Baptists and the Methodists coming to the South. The Methodists went for freedom of blacks, the Baptists went for holding the 'party line'. Well, we know who 'won'. My Granny told me how life was fun down here until the Southern Baptists got too strong. They had dancing and music and singing and then... ooopsies, no more parties and fun. The Southern Baptists upheld the ideas of the rich landowners. nuff said. The Republicans were hijacked a long long time age.
