Gates must have agreed to start withdrawing troops from Iraq.

I don't think Gates was ever 'enamored' with Iraq. He 'serves at the pleasure of the President' and will do what he's told. I like him; seems to be a pragmatist without an agenda and willing to speak out when it's not PC.
