So, replacing the bankers with govt officials as keepers of the money supply will protect us from abuse of the money supply?

This rivals Keynes assumption that politicians would be of strong moral fiber and not stimulate without end...

The way to keep men from abusing fiat money is to get them out of the loop, ie, have a metal rather than a man, as the measure of monetary value.
