What I wouldn't do is demand that government come and bailout Intel.

Listen I have mixed feeling on this. I am not sure the government should bail them out. I'm certainly not worried about not being able to buy a Ford, or a Chevy. I'm not worried about the Execs, I'm not worried about the stockholders.

What i am worried about is millions of jobs around the country, and the multiplier effect of those job loses. I am worried about the cost to government of those job loses, and the timing when we are going into a perhaps very deep recession. And I am mildly worried about the national security implications of not having domestic car manufacturing (we probably would have lost WWII without the car manufacturers).

If the car companies going down turns a recession into a depression, then it would look pretty stupid, in hindsight, to have let them fail.
