re: Coal info
Indonesia has calculated that deepening blackouts will hit the island of Java in the coming months unless an additional 2,443,000t is diverted to the domestic market. An emergency supply plan sees Berau, Kideco, Adaro, state miner PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam (PTBA), Banpu, Bumi Resources and Bayan Resources all contributing (see table). The suppliers have signed off the plan, and are awaiting approval from the Ministry of Minerals and Energy Resources.
Shipments are due to be delivered from December to January or February, say sources. Suppliers say state generator PLN has paid "handsomely" for the coal, with one price quoted at IDR910,000/t CIF ($72.67/t CIF), basis 5,000kc GAR. Barging is estimated at under $10/t, taking the FOB price to approximately $62.67/t.
Some suppliers have said that they will have to postpone some pre-existing export shipments, but at least one will be able to avoid this by drawing down stocks. Another said that the economic crisis did not force buyers to request delays of their own accord, the company will have to impose them.
