Davila has good footwork, inside moves, and seems to have decent hands and instincts. He needs to get stronger. It will take him at least two offseasons to develop a pro physique for a power forward.

Diakete and Witcher don't appear to have both the requisite strength and good hands to be consistent for VT inside.

They badly need JT Thompson to give them the toughness, perimeter defense, and ability to go after loose balls that Deron Washington gave them last year. He's also the only frontcourt player who can get to the basket via the dribble. He should be back in 2-4 weeks.

The weakness of the team is the lack of depth in the backcourt, specifically a pure point guard and a taller guard who can defend and score both from the outside and off of dribble penetration. Thorns can't shoot over defenders and doesn't shoot from the perimeter well. He may not become an ACC-caliber point guard ever as his game has regressed from his freshman year. Hudson lacks the ball-handling skills at the present time to be an effective shooting guard. He seems short for a 2 guard, not the 6-4 he was advertised.
