I had a female Rottweiler when my son was born and she was good with the kids, but obviously not the best choice for small children. They were originally bred as a herd dog by the Romans that used them to manage cattle and sheep for their armies. Descendants of those dogs in Germany were used mostly as a cart dogs there. I've been fortunate though to never have a pet bite anyone.
