11/28/08 update
Appropriately, investors had something to be thankful for Thanksgiving week. At Friday's close, the Nasdaq Composite Index was down -42.10% YTD (vs. -47.81% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Biotech Index was down -19.29% YTD (vs. down -25.13% YTD a week ago). And the Contest portfolio median closed down -38.74% YTD (vs. down -46.92% YTD a week ago).
By week's end, two of the contest portfolios had moved into the black YTD and 5 of the 33 are beating the NBI. First place Gene's portfolio closed the week up 11.8% YTD, with No. 2 ROBERT's portfolio closing up 2.0% YTD. I'm assuming the contest end date will be Friday, 12/19. So, with three weeks to go, it's certainly possible for longtime leader GENE's portfolio to be overtaken.
Enjoy those Thanksgiving leftovers folks!
