Hi Dennis,
Sorry it's been such a long time...I've been trying to adjust to ALL my new lifestyle changes.
I did go and have my Medtronic AICD inducted on Monday, the 20th. It took them about an hour. They call this first appointment an induction, because they record what my heart's been up to for the past two months, and also induce the arrhythmia to create the large shock. This tells them whether it's still fine tuned to my specific heart. Thank goodness I was sedated for the shock part! Trust me, this little machine makes me feel much safer than if I didn't have it. It's kind of like having my own personal paramedic right inside my body! The electrophysiologists (big word) don't believe in creating any unnecessary pain for the patient.
I haven't gotten the results yet, but hope the news is good! From now on I will be able to go to my cardiologist every two months here in town to have the reading done. They read the AICD by taping what looks like a mouse with a tail, attached to a laptop, to my chest. From now on I'll be able to watch while they take the information off of the device. This part should be interesting because I will be able to see all the small arrhythmia's I've been having and how often they occur.
All is well for me...I've spent most of my time researching my particular diseases along with making new friends in the process.
Also, I thought I'd let you know that Medtronic has EXCELLENT customer service. I've had to request information a couple of times and they've always sent it to me within a week. Every time I've e-mailed them with questions, they usually respond the same day! A big plus is the people seem to always be in a great mood.
I think this is a great company and will continue to follow it. In my humblest of opinions it will continue to do very well in the future.
Are you going on this Romantica cruise for Valentine's Day? How romantic! What is a Romantica cruise exactly and to where are you headed?
Thanks for your kind thoughts,
Doing very well...Caroline |
