You can't eat 5000 calories a day without getting fat unless you're Michael Phelps. The notion is ridiculous.

Excess calories are what make you fat. Yes, starches are somewhat addictive and fats are somewhat self-limiting so eating starches are more likely to make you fat than eating fats. But that's because of the expectation that you will end up consuming more calories on a diet of starch than on a diet of fat. It doesn't mean that calories from fat somehow don't count so you can eat gorge yourself with it. That's preposterous.
