But it turns out fat satisfies our hunger and makes us eat less. While carbs make us hungrier.

I understand that. I have personally experienced it and recognized it long before I ever read about it. But I can't get my head around the notion that total calories, however achieved, don't count.

Re appetite, "they" also say that fiber curbs appetite but I have not found that to be the case at all. Fatty flesh is the only thing that satisfies my appetite. I could drink a bottle of olive oil or eat a bushel of avocados and still be hungry. I don't believe that all fats are created equal in that regard, at least not for all people. Dr. Davis's notion of adding a bit of healthy oil to each meal doesn't resonate with me at all. We may not be able to anecdotally assess which foods do or don't make us fat but we are well qualified to identify which foods satisfy our hungry or make us hungrier.
