Popularity does not make her a great pick. If your criteria for a great pick is whether or not she helped McCain, then I'd agree with you that she was a great pick, according to those poll numbers you published. However, I've seen other polls that show that the moderates and independents voted for Obama in greater numbers than McCain and that they were swayed towards Obama because of Palin. So I think you're poll numbers aren't as conclusive as you think.

Having said that, I don't think that should be the only criteria on whether Palin was a good pick or not. I think the primary criterion should be would she be a good V.P. and President. I'd say she would be as or more disastrous than Bush. So using that criterion, she was an awful pick. Of course, that's just my opinion.
