I like Marc Faber. His macroeconomic views tend to be spot on. He writes like a dream, and it' total fun to watch to watch him take on corporate television financial cheerleaders.

His short term and interimediate calls are ho hum. In September the predicted the US stock market would rally in October, for example.

The only ones who called the asset and commodity meltdown correctly, as I can recall:

Bob Hoye
Mish Shedlock
Chris Laird
Bill Cara

I'm referring to people who in public forums advised getting out of all stocks and going to cash as of spring 08.

It's possible Russ Winter did also, but since he moved to subscription-based service, don't know his recent market calls.

Edit: I think Paul Van Eeden did, also. In retrospect, given his intimate associations with Toronto mining equity industry, I wonder if didn't know first hand how the collapse of easy credit would pull the rug out from under the industry's feet.
