i don't see it so much as a matter of 'resentments' but of pragmatism....you can't have a literal welfare state allowing the poorest and most uneducated illegals to enter and have full access to the panoply of gov't services (especially healthcare) without creating a tipping point whereby the businesses and individuals who are called upon to fund (through punitive taxation) these services...they will eventually move on to greener pastures
