the reality is the auto makers are not going to be able to pay it's legacy costs and remain competitive against younger and better positioned labor-wise companies therefore as long as you have old line auto companies trying to compete with it's unrealistic fixed costs that are far in excess of their 'upstart' competitors, they are doomed.
