Poodles are a great dog to have if you dislike your neighbors. We had them when I was growing up. They constantly yipped and barked. The male had a size complex and tried to intimidate larger dogs. When the Olde English Sheep dog arrived he just lifted his head and the black poodle came away with a white beard of sheep dog hair. The thick fur was designed to protect them from bite attacks. It also helps speed clotting when a bite gets through.
