I've always believed that part of Hyundai's image problem has been that the cars were introduced here about the same time as the "Yugo". People, at the time, painted both with the same brush, even though the Yugo's problems were orders of magnitude worse than Hyundai's. Can't prove it, but I suspect there is some carryover from this.

Hyundai has made every effort to turn their quality problems around and they've done a good job of it.
