What I am skeptical about is people making up their definitions not to mention applying it after the fact... This is kind of like retroactive trading. So is your beef that the committee came to this conclusion too early or too late? On the one hand, you seem to be saying it would've been more useful to know this sooner, but on the other hand, you said the committee made its call before two Qs of negative GDP growth were reported. They said employment had fallen every month since last December. Maybe if employment had blipped up in April or July they would've decided differently.
