The Australian GST (sales tax) rebate isn't money that can be spent. It's merely a tax reduction.

Australia is not governed by a George W. Bush type, so you should not expect to see the government sending out checks for free money.

Unlike American sheep, Australians are skeptical of promises they could receive something for nothing.
