Good point Skinow. Lindy says people want to be ruled by their local yokel compatriots. But umpty millions of us have moved our families to other countries to escape the rule of our compatriots, preferring to be ruled by foreigners as a negligible minority with no political influence.
In fact, it's good to be part of an empire like the British Empire which brought enlightenment to the world, not to mention common law, rule of law and other good things such as a lingua franca.
We WANT to be part of the globalized profit share scheme. Watch people seek out huge crowds and join in. Watch female primates hop the fence to spread the gene pool, [humans are also primates]. Watch the Munich beer festival, Woodstock, the crowds walking around the bell ringing tower in Antwerp, a City to Surf run for fun and Round the Bays crowd jog. People like being in a globalized crowd surging mosh pit.
If a vote was held in Zimbabwe to become the 51st state of the USA or to have Mugabe be Emperor in Chief, they'd go for being a USA state, or even a protectorate, condominium, vassal, or other half-pie arrangement.
