Gee, that seems to be a big chunk of what they are asking in the bailout request. So US taxpayers, most of whom have no pension plans are supposed to pay money into pension account of overpaid auto workers?

So you don't think they should honor their commitments to their former employees? Who do you think will take up that slack (hint: it's a 9 letter word that starts with "T" and ends with "S"). What about other corps that have benefits and pensions for retiree's, both exec and workers? Dump those as well, or just the ones unions negotiated?

Why do you think they are overpaid? What do you make an hour? Are you overpaid?

When they go into effect, the trusts will pay health care bills for about 800,000 UAW retirees, spouses and dependents at the three companies. GM expects to save about $3 billion a year when the expenses are moved, while Ford says it will save $1 billion.
