Agreed. However, the price of oil today is not dictated by the market. It is manipulated at almost every turn. It is truly a politicized price.

If we truly let the market decide what these commodities should be priced at, then alternatives would be competitive. For example, why is it that we put stiff tarriffs on sugar ethanol imports? What does it cost to use our military to fight wars over oil and to secure our oil supplies?
