Paul, I clearly agree that MSFT shouldn't be using "gun-boat marketing" techniques, no buts.

However, on the Gateway deal, who the heck would want the computer to boot directly to Netscape? That's really stupid IMO. I hate all of those extra layers that vendors such as AST and Packard Bell load on top of Win95. Like theirs is some kind of improvement over Win95. It's maddening, because keeping the user isolated from Win95 only insures that they will never learn the full capabilities of their computer. Not to mention it confuses the heck out of new users. I actually know someone who thought that the AST interface that layers on top of Win95 was Windows 94 (even though there's no such thing). That's because when I deleted that silly "AST Navigator" interface, they felt they had a whole new, better OS.

Pristine Win95 on bootup is the only sensible thing to do, and any vendor that does anything different, I simply take them off my list of vendors from whom I would ever buy a computer from.
