When my oldest was about 3, we camped at a county park in Tillamook. A smallish wave came in and knocked her down. She just got cold and very sandy, but you can see how a bigger wave could snatch someone, especially a kid or small adult, right off the beach.

Every so often, a tourist is lost down in Cabo. They go down to the beach on the ocean side and occasionally a big sneaker comes in an grabs them.
