Yes, there are risks. But we have no choice IMO. We can not let them go under as they could not survive bankruptcy. Maybe a prepackaged bankrupty with the Feds financing but that is no different then financing them now with conditions. We nationalized AIG in effect, FNM, FRE, and own a significant part of many banks- these are investments not spending but could lose anyway- so why not the automakers which support 25% of the economy if you consider all the dealers, suppliers, repair guys, and the multiplier effect. We can not take the risk.
