You left out the biggest cost of all.....maintaining a military and fighting wars to secure the flow of oil.


Still need to maintain strong military but the enemies will get a lot weaker.

How is terrorism going to be financed if oil money dries up? A lot the people in the middle east won't be able to say it is all about the oil.(i guess up to now, one can see their point especially with Bush/Cheney)

Countries that just rely on oil wealth will have to get creative in developing their economies or end up in poverty. There will no time or money sit back and consume their oil wealth....and definitely no way to finance the next terrorist...or terrorist training camp.
