Barr (BRL) Labs Gets FDA OK To Sell Estradiol Tablets

POMONA, N.Y. -- Barr Laboratories Inc. (BRL) received
clearance from the Food and Drug Administration to
market Estradiol Tablets, the generic equivalent of
Bristol-Myers Squibb Co.'s (BMY) Estrace, for treating
symptoms of menopause and preventing osteoporosis.

In a press release Wednesday, Barr Laboratories said
Estradiol will be available in three strengths - 0.5 mg, 1 mg
and 2 mg.

The company said the hormonal agent is used to treat
severe vasomotor symptoms associated with menopause
and for preventing osteoporosis.

Barr Laboratories is the third company to bring a generic
version of the product to market.

Barr Laboratories develops, makes and marekts generic
pharmaceuticals.
