Jhild I think you have mistaken something important in what I've said, that is you think I'm argueing with you and support a position which is opposite yours. Not true! I have not taken a position in this...just raised questions and pointed out positions the parties involved may argue from. Many have jumped the gun and convicted MSFT already, I don't have the facts, at best just leaked tid bits from third party sources. Tomorrow I may step into CPQ's shoes or the DOJ's or someone elses to mull this over.

Here is something to consider. What if MSFT is forced to split up and seperate it's OS works from the rest of it's business? Does it do the USA any good or just Netscape and other software companies?

Btw. No monopoly situation or rule stopped IBM from being in the position MSFT is today. It was a major blunder by IBM in making the decission not to BUY DOS from Bill Gates but instead chose to license it!!!

I also ask you what good deed this Attorney General has done? Anyway in this case she prosecutes and the court will decide...If there is no settlement before hand. I also notice PRB is the only one on the thread (as I recall) who has taken note to how meaningless the small fine is. As I said before, if everything being said is true MSFT should be ordered to stop shipping (this includes OEMs), downloading or selling I.E. pronto! That would get results quick!
