because as an investor, you should understand that 800 billion drag on the US economy every year could be better spent here.

We could take that 800 billion and use it to fund universal healthcare for one thing, you realize that would almost pay for the entire population of the US healthcare for one year if we had the same system as most of the EU and Japan? it would cover ALL COSTS.

If we used the money we save buying offshore fossil fuels to fund healthcare, GM would be competitive today (or so economists say).

I realize this is not an apples to apples comparison but funneling such a huge amt of money out to buy oil is an obvious hit to the economy so to act like you don't understand it seems like maybe you just don't WANT to understand.

800 billion- the same as the bailout everybody is upset about, every year, to the middle east. Sound good?
