I'm sure you have seen the tests on the new diesel powered Jetta that can get around 50mpg on the highway. The tests I've read have given the car kudos for a very torquey but quiet diesel powerplant. Thing is, for whatever reason the price delta between regular and diesel in the Chicago area is still about a dollar a gallon, so there goes the advantage of the Jetta vs something like a Civic at 35 mpg...

Regards,
John
