Of course they have. But that isn't what caused the current crisis.

For GM it is.......they have been very slow and reluctant to reduce their conpany size in spite of significant drops in market share. They were unprepared to deal with any crisis.

Market share transition happens all the time.

And how well a company makes that transition will determine how successful they are going forward. GM has had a very difficult time with the transition, not willing to recognize they no longer have an exclusive with the American market.

But these are minor changes relative to what we've seen in the last quarter or two and which ALL automakers are suffering from.

Oh hell! The last two quarters are a temporary phenomenon. The ongoing structural problems at GM and Chrysler are much more serious.
